Jem Challender and Ben Gibbons form the rhythm section of Castlemaine based Jazz quartet, The Anticlinal Fold. This EP was recorded by Matthew Colin in Castlemaine in October 2022 on Sawmill Road. Pianist, Jem is a previous winner of the Australian Song Writers Competition. Double bassist Ben Gibbons is a former sideman for WA folk band The Waifs.

The Challender and Gibbons EP reimagines some classic standards and some new works with an intentionally restrained, and lyrical approach. The recordings were originally conceived as soundtrack music for Australian barista education organisation Barista Hustle. The EP finishes with Wolfhour, an original composition which Jem and poet Ross Donlon wrote together for the Anticlinal Fold's Jazz Poetry series.

The Anticlinal Fold are regular performers at the Central Goldfield's favourite Jazz venue, The Northern Arts Hotel. The album cover features a projection by Castlemaine artist Frank Veldze, with graphics by Danish photographer Jacob Thue.

The Anticlinal Fold will be performing at the Northern Arts Hotel on the 27th of January, 2023.
